Secrets of Blog Commenting

By Chris Jonathan

Blog commenting is one of the easiest FREE ways to get themed links to your site. All you need to do is to leave a comment on related blogs and include some anchored text linking back to your site. The other advantage is that some of the pages that you comment on have high Page Rank!

Once you compile a list of these blogs, maybe 10 to 25 of them, visit them from time to time and post a comment only when you have something to contribute to the conversation. If you are a frequent commenter, you may also be featured on the home page if they have the top commenters plugin installed. Try to write at least 4 or 5 sentences.

Pick one username for every blog, possibly the username used to post on your own blog, forums or social media sites.

Read their blogs daily not only for tips and information but so you can comment on each article they upload.

Build Your Credibility: By participating and posting blog comments regularly, the readers of those blogs that you frequent would come to recognize you as a subject expert. Frequent appearances can do much good to your credibility. This also means that if you were to recommend a product on your website, they will be more ready to buy!

Get Google to notify you when they find a post on your topic by setting up Google Alerts for your keywords. You can take advantage of this free service at Google.com/alerts. Don't forget to add these blogs to your RSS feed reader, too.

An interesting aspect of blog comments is the fact that people who leave comments on your blog can also leave links to other blogs or websites or their own blogs to further the conversation. These links can be a great resource to help you find new blogs to read, like-minded bloggers, and new post ideas.

Additionally, bloggers can leave trackbacks on your blog through blog comments when they link to your blog posts on their blogs. Trackbacks are another great way to help you build relationships with other bloggers as well as to drive new traffic to your blog from the links on those other blogs. - 16463
