Airsoft Projectiles

By Alexander Malroy

The adrenaline rush of playing the airsoft game is one of the main reasons why it is so popular today. Its ability to simulate military operations and reenacting historical events added up to it's sought after popularity. The strategy aspect it features makes it more dynamic and interesting. There are growing numbers of countries who recognized airsoft as a sport and a hobby, while some others still held their reservation in recognizing its legitimacy.

The difference between paintball and airsoft While airsoft comes at the height of paintball's popularity, people can't help but notice the difference between the two. The most familiar distinction between the two is the actual weapon itself. Airsoft pellets is used as a projectile to fire off the gun, while paintball use bullets with paint on it that stain the clothes of the opposing team as it hits through. Airsoft pellets are little round plastic bullets that inaudibly hit a target when fired. This is also the reason why a Marshall is needed and a call for a more sincere rules and the adherence to it.

Paintball's range is much shorter than airsoft guns. Players of paintball guns have their time running around chasing each other in order to shoot accurately and precisely. While in airsoft gun games, players can shoot even at an ample distance mainly due to the extended pressure airsoft has. Airsoft uses gas pressure adjustable to the player's preference how much pressure he wants to put in his gun.

Airsoft guns nowadays use multifaceted technology and are constructed more professionally. They are the exact replicas of the real guns, only this time using high quality plastic and some metals. The projectile used in airsoft guns are only within 6 to 8 millimeter in diameter. There are various types and models of airsoft guns and each function differently, whether automatic or semi-automatic. Some of it may require batteries while the basic ones may just need air pressure.

The Rules of Airsoft The honor system among the opposing team is greatly encouraged and enforced. Since the projectiles and pellets of the airsoft guns is relatively small than those of real ammunition, and the wide environment of the playing field easily conceals the hit and miss of the game-rules are to be followed strictly.

As the airsoft guns fire off small pellets the projectiles are important. This is important as the airsoft guns are held at replicas of the battle grounds. There is a big field and the two camps have their hide outs and ammunition packs and also the shields where they can hide behind while being targeted at. Projectiles therefore must be flexible of playing the game.

But because of the size of the pellets, and since not all airsoft BBs are stained like paintballs the honor system is followed. This simply means that players who have been fired successfully with the pellets must surrender themselves out of the game. Sometimes referees and marshals are also present to make sure that those who must be out are really out of the game already.

Airsoft guns is steadily gaining popularity all over the world, people from all walks of life find it as a stress reliever from the mundane hustle and bustle of everyday living. While manufacturers of airsoft guns are providing the enthusiasts of cheaper but quality and durable firearms to make it more accessible to the market. - 16463
