Wedding Gift Plan to Consider

A wedding is a special event, not just for the bride and groom but also for the people attending the wedding. An invitation to a wedding can be a symbol which the couple thinks of you to be close friends of the family. There are some important regulations of etiquette that apply to the wedding from ways to respond to the invitation to guidelines for choosing wedding gifts.

Although the emphasis on the wedding is the commitment and love the new couple shows, it is important to refer the wedding gift guidelines so that you will not perceived as being rude. One of the main things with wedding gift guidelines is to understand when it is appropriate to give a gift and when it is not. Whenever you receive an invitation to a wedding, you should definitely buy a gift if you going to attend.

Sometimes it is also a good idea to send a gift even if you cannot attend the wedding for some reasons. The only situation where it is polite to not giving a gift is if you have been out of touch with the wedding couple for several years. There are some events related to the wedding which have gift guidelines as well. For example if you receive an announcement of a wedding after the fact, you should not feel obligated to give a gift.

A congratulatory card will do for this case. If you are invited to an engagement party, you also should not feel compelled to bring a gift as there will be a time at the wedding for giving gifts. But if you are invited to a wedding shower, it is polite to give a gift for the bride. However in this case if you do not attend, you do not have to buy any gift.

A tricky area in wedding gift guidelines is knowing what you should choose for the newlywed. Though some will try to convince you that there are formulas to refer, there are no actual formulas. The only thing that should determine the gift which you give to the wedding couple is how close you feel to them as well as your own budget. No doubt, with the beginning of wedding registries, it's easy to pick out a gift however if you are more comfortable choose a gift without consulting the bridal registry, feel free to do so.

After you have choose a suitable wedding gift, the final lesson in wedding gift guidelines is when and where the gift should give. Generally wedding gifts may be given as soon as the marriage is announced. You can also send the gifts to the bride's home whenever you send it prior to the wedding itself. It is also be permissible and probably most acceptable to bring the gift to the reception. The custom is to send it to the new couple's home if you only able to give your gift after the wedding.

More than this, there are no fast and hard rules with wedding gift plan. Don't let the responsibility of purchasing a wedding gift detracts from the main purpose of the day which is celebrating the love that the wedding couple have each other. - 16463
