Unique Wedding Favors: A Surprising Twist for Guests

By Aaron H.

Although it is not a requirement per se', the giving of wedding favors to one's guests as a special "Thank you" gift has come to be an expected part of the reception. Wedding favors are some small, inexpensive gifts chosen by the couple that usually match the dcor of the event and make good keepsakes for the guests to take home as a reminder of the happiness shared with the bride and groom. Often, at least one of the wedding favors that guests receive is personalized with the names of the bride and groom and the date of their marriage.

While giving out wedding favors is expected, sometimes couples wish to throw in a curve and do something unexpected. Many couples like to surprise their guests by giving them unique wedding favors that they would not have expected to see at such an occasion. Salt & Pepper shakers sets shaped like apples with a caption on the box that reads, "Apple of my Eye" or a wine set that includes both a bottle stopper and a corkscrew mounted on a card with one being the bride and the other the groom are two examples of unique wedding favors.

These unique wedding favors are the types of items that make perfect keepsakes to remind the guests of this particular wedding event because of these are not the types of items that are given out at practically every wedding one attends throughout one's life. Unlike the majority of wedding favors that people see on a regular basis, unique wedding favors create a one of a kind link in people's minds that call this one event to mind without having to sort through the memories of other weddings to determine where this item came from.

Unique wedding favors fill the purpose of giving wedding favors perfectly. They say "Thank you" to the guest in a stronger manner than "Thank you" cards can do, are an item the guests enjoy receiving, and remind the guests of your wedding every time they are looked at or used. Personalized wedding favors are a good way to fill these needs, but most couples simply have their names and the wedding date put on a nice pen and give these out as wedding favors.

Whether the couple chooses to have unique wedding favors personalized or not, they will form a definite link in the minds of the recipients because they are so unexpected. If one wishes to form the strongest link possible between the gift and the event, have a unique wedding favor personalized. This can be done in different manners, even. Instead of putting the couple's names and wedding date on the items as is done with most wedding favors, it would be just as easy to put the couple's initials on them or have them personalized to the person receiving them with their names or initials.

No matter how one goes about giving out wedding favors to thank the guests for attending, giving unique wedding favors deserves some consideration. These items can add so much to the party simply by virtue of the fact that they are different and come as a surprise to the guests. - 16463
