Happiness is something that has always fascinated me, mainly because it can be so elusive for some people while there are other people who can be happy easily. I have a friend who is always happy. It's not just external happiness, he genuinely feels happy and it shows.
Even if he faces disappointment or when things don't go his way, he is able to bounce back quickly. Sure he gets upset or angry, but not for long. Before you know it, he's back to his usual self. I've always wondered what makes him able to do that.
Understand that happiness comes from the inside. We can never obtain happiness from external things. Though it seems that wealth, possessions and various toys can bring happiness, the truth is these things do not give us true happiness. Rather, it functions more as a distraction to all the unhappy aspects of life. The brief pleasure that external things provide never lasts for long.
Never seek for these brief pleasures. Don't let yourself get into the cycle of constantly chasing external possessions to be happy. What we should do is focus on having true lasting happiness that comes internally from within ourselves.
The main difference between happy people and unhappy people is in their mindset and attitude about life. Happy people see things and think differently from unhappy people. Happy people always focus on the positive. They are able to put things into perspective. For example, happy people know that every failure is an opportunity for growth and they know not to take life too seriously. Happy people are grateful to be alive and cherish every moment of their life.
Change your attitude and the way you view your life and you'll experience more happiness. Here are some other ways to have a lifestyle that cultivates internal happiness.
1. Spend time daily to be grateful and remember all that life have given you 2. Regularly read inspirational stories and quotes about happiness 3. Smile and laugh as often as possible 4. Regularly set aside time to do a hobby or activity that you enjoy 5. Help others 6. Listen to music or songs that are uplifting and happy 7. Learn to appreciate the beauty in the world
Often times we fail to give happiness the priority it deserves. We don't commit and give importance to making ourselves happy. No wonder we're always unhappy. Commit to happiness and consistently do the actions in the list above. Happiness like everything else, requires effort too. - 16463
