Is Acai Berry really the number one superfood?

Acai berry is surely the number one, most popular super food in the world right now. it comes from the northern parts of south America, where it is widely distributed.

Acai has recently been called Superfood Number 1 by Dr. Nicholas Perricone, author of The Perricone Promise: Look Younger, Live Longer in Three Easy Steps. He has given acai this title because of the numerous outstanding health promoting properties inherent in the fruit.

Not only that, but tv networks has played a big role in the popularity of acai as a superfood. Notably, NBC's Today Show recently called it the "Viagra of the Amazon". because it help with blood circulation.

People magazine is asking the question, What is The latest look-better, live-longer superfood? and goes on to answer by talking about how acai is packed with antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients.

Acai is called a superfood mainly because it has a remarkable concentration of antioxidants. It may even be the richest fruit sources known. Antioxidants gives you the benefits to help reduce the damaging effects of free radicals.

Anthocyanins are the chemical components that give the intense color to many fruits and vegetables. You can also find them in red grapes, and it is the same compounds responsible for the health benefits of red wine.

However acai berry is a superfood because it has 33 times more anthocyanins than grapes. modern science is beginning to recognize and validate the merits of acai.

In fact, one recent scientific research study highlights the far reaching scope of this phenomenal fruit. The study showed that acai was able to destroy cultured human cancer cells. Specifically, four out of six different chemical extracts made from acai fruit pulp triggered a self-destruct response in up to 86 percent of leukemia cells tested.

Now that modern science can no longer ignore the benefits of acai berry. We are seeing more and more consumers taking advantage of this amazing superfood. - 16463
