Trying to Decide If Your Company Needs a Website?

By Craig Calvin

Many companies wonder if they need a website. They will ask themselves what are the pros and cons to having one. The following factors should help you make the best decision, if you are srious about your business.

1. The internet is the go-to source for information. Whether you are looking for movie times or restaurant reservations, the internet is the first place most people turn. Could you be missing out on customers and exposure because you do not have a solid, easy to find internet presence? Without a website, the answer is likely 'yes'. Your competitors probably have websites, which means that people who search for your industry are being funneled directly to the competition.

2. Establishing your presence on the internet with a website tells the world you are legitamate and serious. It also makes people aware of who you are what you do. It just makes good business sense.

3.Visability is a key factor in having a website. A web site is a cost effective means of advertising. You will reach many markets you might not with traditional advertising.

4. Offering comprehensive information on the internet is a great way of providing excellent customer service 24/7 without time and energy from you or your staff. Your website can have basic information such as business hours, services offered, and reasons to use your business rather than one of your competitors. You can also publish a basic price list and detailed descriptions of your products and services. This keeps you from having to screen clients constantly and dedicate staff hours to providing explanations. A website can give you a place to direct clients who want to know the details of your offerings.

5. Websites broaden your reach. If you are only reaching your local area now, websites can extend that area globally. A website extends your exposure and reach beyond your immediate area.

This being said, it is difficult to imagine anything negative about having a website. It is not time consuming and costs hardly anything. You can even learn how to desgn one yourself. There are also freelance designers out there who can create a site for you within hours and quite affordably. - 16463
